While discussing the Adelaide Writers' Festival tonight with my Aged Mother and Smaller Half:

It seems to me that most writers are either over-educated prats with too much time on their hands or disaffected minorities with an axe to grind.

Which category was Ernst Hemmingway?
Is it true, that he once had a huge tantrum while fixing the cuffs on his trousers and screamed at them "It's my way, or the Hemming-way"?
1. Being armless and transgender puts him firmly in the "disaffected minority" basket.
2. I haven't heard that story before now, but if I read it on Wikipedia I'd believe it.
