Spambots

Alas, due to morons posting spam links in the comments section of my blog, I will be moderating all blog comments from now on.  Rest assured that I won't be using my executive privilege for purpose other than killing spam.

I like spam. It's good on toast with a little tabasco and salt and pepper.

My word verfication for this comment was "govestd" which I take as meaning that the government has a sexually transmitted disease of some kind. Or perhaps a long distance call to a government official type person.

Yep.

If "Govestd" wasn't an agency before now, it will be soon! Peter Garrett needs a new job and this fits the bill.

What's a spam link?

Or did you mean to type Spam Lick (those delicious, but sadly increasingly rare, frozen treats)?

I was getting lots of comments that were paragraphs full of incomprehensible gibberish filled with links to dubious websites. Since I consider that territory to be well-covered by my posts, I denote them as spam.

Where can I buy spam licks? They sound delicious AND nutritious!

PTR,

Have you thought about having a section for unapproved blog posts - or even a pending area for yet to be approved blog posts?

In the same way that an occasional foray into the junk inbox on email can unearth the odd gem - we, your humble readers, might enjoy see what you bin as unworthy of being published alongside your own shining prose.

Just a thought.

PS fleaming as a verifying word? What sort of spambot is that going to keep out?

PPS If you eat too much spam, is it possible to develop a case of spam bot? If so, should you wipe with toast and a little (a very little) tobasco?

Wait - do you mean yet to be approved comments by the spam morons or yet to be approved posts by me?

The first is an intriguing idea, the second not so much.

Oh, and if you get spam bot, I'd wipe with a piece of pre-sliced cheddar.
